Macon County Senior Games

 

TennisMacon County Senior Games is sanctioned by the North Carolina Senior Games, Inc, an organization that was established in 1990 to create a year-round health promotion and education program for adults 55 years of age and better.

Every spring, over 60,000 participants in North Carolina are active in local Senior Games competitions. Macon County operates one of the 54 sanctioned local Senior Games Programs. Athletes and artists who qualify at local games are invited to attend the State Finals in the fall. Every two years, State Final winners who qualify can represent North Carolina in the National Games.

Fees
Registration fee is $15. This fee includes a t-shirt and banquet with lots of fun and fellowship. Bowling, billiards, racquetball and golf require an extra fee to be paid on site.

Who’s eligible?
A participant must be a North Carolina resident for a minimum of 3 consecutive months of the year; and must be 55 or better on or before December 31.

Men and Women compete in age groups:
55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+.

Registration
You must register by April 16, 2010. The registration form on this site is a pdf that you can fill in on your computer. You will still need to print it out so you can sign it and and mail along with the signed liability waiver and your fee to: Macon County Recreation Department, 1288 Georgia Rd., Franklin, NC 28734 or drop off at the Macon County Community Building.

SilverArts – Visual, Heritage, Literary and Performing
The SilverArts exhibit will be held in the Macon County Community Building. We encourage everyone to view these pieces of work between the hours of 10 and 4, April 27-30. Entries are due at the Community Building on April 24 between 10 am - 2 pm.

Our performing arts category – Senior Games Follies – will be held at The Smoky Mountain Center for Performing Arts at 7 pm, Saturday May 1. The public is invited to this program at the cost of $5 per person. Follies Registration form (pdf)

Banquet
The banquet will be Saturday, May 15 at The National Guard Armory in the Industrial Park. Some door prizes and a 50/50 drawing will be held at the end of the evening. The Banquet is sponsored by Macon Senior Games. This year's banquet will have a theme of "Beach Party."
